Prologue

In experiences of Google searching, you must be found out there are so many posted stories in fast charging smart-phones and tablet PCs. Unfortunately, however, most of them are  consist of theoretical theme, advertising specific chargers and introducing USB-PD (USB3.1 Power Delivery),   For people who are interested in fast charging, I'd like to handle the stories that smart-phone users have never heard in the meantime from now on.

Despite that, there is almost rare in the most important knowledge that people desire to know.  They want to know not only how to charge their phones can be faster than before, but also what charger and cables should be purchased as a must-have item. Do you know the truth that all iPhone has an available maximum current limitation every model? And Samsung Galaxy Series phone is also the same as the iPhone in the case of the below stories.

------ 3 Optimized solutions for Faster Charge iPhone and Samsung Galaxy -------

[1] As the first of 3 conditions in fast charge, now let's look below the figures around into each model's peak figure and check whether your phone model can be the fastest charge or not!

Available Charge Current Limit for iPhones, iPads and Samsung Android Phones

To achieve faster charging, three conditions should be obtained by you. First, your phone model belongs to available fast-charging models.  And second, you have to get the AC wall charger with enough Current output. Third, required is thick wire cables with the lowest resistance and finally, approximately up to 2.4A current (for 5V) is to be permitted by the charger IC built-in your phone. The phones include iPhone 8/9/X series.

Besides the above mentioned three environmental conditions, it is quite helpful for you to know what your iPhone is equipped with an autonomous charging system. Please see below the charging process system

The above image shows the role of  iPhone X built-in Battery Charge Control IC

The important knowledge through the above charging process is as below.

(A) You don't need to worry about longtime charging until next day wakeup time after charging start before sleeping. An autonomous battery charging controller enables automatically shut-down of external power input from Wall charger.

(B) As one of some inner safety systems, the iPhone built-in Charge Controller IC works cutting power off if the battery heat temperature reaches the risk temperature level through monitoring battery condition. Therefore, you may feel relieved that the phone has no burden of battery lifetime shorten even if you frequently employ faster charger anytime.  And you may be relaxed that heat generation problem of iPhone housing surface during quick charging has also happened.

(C) Regarding Qualcomm Quick Charger QC-2.0 and QC3.0 in Android phones like Samsung, you have to carefully purchase a China-made wall charger due to the actually incompatible problem with QC-2.0 or -3.0. In order not to disappoint after purchase, all you have to do is checking reviews. It is recommendable for you not to buy it if competitiveness related review is found out.   In the meantime, it is because I have frequently experienced that "quick charging" has not described on Samsung Galaxy S9 or S10 screen.  And it is meaningless to use QC3.0 charger for Samsung Galaxy series. That is because the charging system of all Samsung phones is focused just on QC2.0, not QC3.0. Of course, you may use the QC3.0 charger compatible with QC2.0, however, it is no use if QC3.0 is expensive more than QC2.0. That is Samsung Galaxy works just at the QC2.0 specifications, not at the QC3.0 equipped with higher current and voltage.

[2] Second, the USB cable is one of the quite important factors in whether the iPhone can be fastest charged or not. It is due to tremendous power loss when the cable brings the power of the wall adapter to iPhone built-in charge IC.  Most users are inclined to glance looking into cable power loss. However, it is the reason why many users made disappoint that their charging speed is not fast with the high powerful wall charger like 3.1Ampare for 5V.  It is not fast at all if using a high power output charger due to a big loss of thin cable with high resistance.  And you must get thick cable if possible in order to withdraw resistance figures and transfer the power without any loss. The cables (like AWG24/22/18) with less than AWG 26 is recommendable.

[3] Finally, an important thing is that you should buy a strong powerful output specified wall charger. Take the model of 2.4A or 3.1A for 5V output, for instance, it will be the best choice if considering cable resistance.  Of course, you don't need to scare about the phone burden through very high current. As you see the above battery charging process, the charger controller makes shut-down when overcurrent and overvoltage have happened and accept consumable current volume with monitoring battery condition every second.  Much current is mainly consumed between battery gauge 0 and 50 percent.  After that, the normal base charging current range between 51 and 80 percent, and last 81 to 100 percent range is the slowest mode term, especially for battery lifetime. Most people make a mistake that 3.1A charging is made as it is with the wall charger of output 3.1A. However, it is never as it is due to the cable power transfer leakage.  Thereby, the higher output current is the better quick charge speed.
